going whole hog

going whole hog

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: there's no time like the present. And as luck would have it, today we get to celebrate the whole ball of wax known as 'Cliche Day'. That's right!

Seeing as how Rome wasn't built in a day, I've been working on this post for a coon's age. I was off to a good start, but it wasn't all smooth sailing and I knew I had to get back in the saddle to finish in time. Far be it from me to do anything but always look on the bright side, so I put my nose to the grindstone and the pedal to the metal. You know I'd bend over backwards for you! As well as give an arm and a leg to see you happy. And since the buck stops here, it was all on my shoulders; I needed to stand and deliver! I did wonder if maybe I bit off more than I could chew, however.

So I burned the midnight oil. But you can't squeeze blood from a turnip, and at times my mind went blank. Could I make you see the forest for the trees? That celebrating this holiday is the cat's meow? Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a wall. And since I don't like to beat around the bush, or make a mountain out of a molehill, I have to let you know that this speaking in cliches is getting on my last nerve! I'm literally climbing the walls here! Usually I'm cool as a cucumber, and do my best to keep my chin up and my eyes open and my hair on.

So, to make a long story short, I've decided to put an end to it. Fingers crossed this all makes sense - and that I've knocked your socks off! And not rubbed your nose in it. No need to read between the lines either. Or rub salt in the wound. Because, on any given Sunday, I can run circles around this post with one hand tied behind my back. I take the bull* by the horns; no one can accuse me of not putting my best foot forward. When push comes to shove, I always give it my best shot. And you can take that to the bank!

Time to wave the white flag, quit while I'm ahead, and stop and smell the roses. But remember: time flies when you're having fun!

Happy Cliche Day!

Onward.
